TWO DIFFERENT APPROACHES
How Each System Controls the Light
Understanding the system architecture is more useful than comparing the controllers by appearance alone.
Color Sync Controller
Color Sync controls compatible Pentair lighting modes through the wall panel or Pentair Pool App. Pentair specifies compatibility with selected Pentair light and water-feature families.
Intekit Plus System
Intekit Plus receives commands through multiple user interfaces and communicates with matched underwater bulbs through the electrical circuit. The controller and bulbs must belong to the same Intekit Plus voltage system.
A 12V AC controller must be used only with 12V AC Intekit Plus bulbs. A 120V AC controller must be used only with 120V AC Intekit Plus bulbs. Never mix 12V and 120V equipment, never connect matched components across separate transformers, and use only one Intekit Plus controller on the same household lighting circuit.

RETROFIT STRATEGY
Upgrade the Bulb—or Replace the Lighting Ecosystem?
For owners of a compatible traditional E26 fixture, a matched Intekit Plus retrofit bulb can preserve the existing fixture body while changing the way the light is controlled. This can be especially relevant to selected 120V Pentair Amerlite 784 Series installations.

An electrical match does not guarantee a physical fit. The 120V Intekit Plus Pool Bulb measures approximately 6 3/4 inches in diameter by 5 1/2 inches high. Measure usable internal space—not only the outside diameter of the fixture.

Questions Before You Upgrade
Compatibility must be confirmed at the system level—not from the controller appearance or fixture face diameter alone.
Is Pentair Color Sync compatible with an Amerlite 784 fixture?
Pentair’s current Color Sync compatibility list names MicroBrite, GloBrite, IntelliBrite, ColorVision Bubbler and MagicStream Laminars. It does not list Amerlite. Color Sync is a controller, not an E26 replacement bulb.
Can an Intekit Plus bulb be controlled by Pentair Color Sync?
No. Intekit Plus bulbs require a compatible Intekit Plus Knob or Touch Controller of the same voltage. They should not be connected to or represented as compatible with the Color Sync Controller.
Can I use a 12V controller with a 120V bulb?
No. The controller and every connected Intekit Plus bulb must use the same specified voltage. Mixing 12V and 120V equipment is unsafe and can damage equipment.
Does the Intekit Plus Pool Bulb fit every E26 pool fixture?
No. An E26 base alone does not confirm fit. Verify the fixture model, voltage, usable internal dimensions, gasket condition and installation requirements before purchasing.
Which system offers more ways to control the lights?
Color Sync offers its direct panel and Pentair Pool App. Intekit Plus offers its App, compatible voice assistants, handheld remote and Knob or Touch Controller. The right choice depends on whether broader control options or Pentair ecosystem continuity is more important to you.
Should a pool professional install the system?
Yes. Pool-light circuits combine electricity and water and may be subject to local electrical codes, bonding, grounding, GFCI and transformer requirements. Installation should be completed or verified by a qualified professional.
